Almeda University offers doctorate degrees in both business and theology. For more information about any of Almeda’s doctorate degrees, click on this link. Our business doctorates combine the academic study of business administration principles with the analysis of real world processes and practical management situations. Our theology doctorates address many diverse theological concentrations, ensuring that our graduates are well-versed in a wide range of theological areas and religious doctrinal approaches.

This month’s featured Doctorate program: Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) in Biblical Theology. Biblical Theology is a discipline of theology that combines study and interpretation of the Bible with historical context and analysis. In this way, study is not restricted to knowledge of the Bible itself, but rather expands to examine the historical, sociological, and cultural factors that may have comprised the Bible's verses. Those who pursue a degree in Biblical Theology believe that understanding the intended meaning of a Biblical text is dependent on knowing what the text reflects or points toward. This degree is received when students can demonstrate and articulate their commitment to understanding the Bible through this perspective. A recent graduate of Almeda, Gerald Hinton, reports that after earning his degree he was able to secure a position as Assistant Pastor for a major church in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Hinton earns $63,000 a year (plus benefits and expenses) and is delighted to have his mission field so close to his hometown of Ft. Worth. Harmon Smith, who earned his degree in 2005, has since enjoyed several advancements in his pastoral life, moving from Youth Pastor, to Executive Pastor of a large congregation in Decatur, Georgia., making $58,000 a year. Pastor Smith grew up in a Christian home and always considered himself a Biblical scholar, yet only achieved success in his ministry after earning his Almeda degree.

In order to attain a position as a business executive or a church Pastor—just to name two potential career paths—an MBA or MA in theology is often required. Some companies and congregations will not even consider applicants unless they have a Master degree. Almeda’s MBA and MA in Theology programs are conceived as a blend of academic study with the analysis of real world processes through the demonstration of practical experience.

The Applied Science and Technology major may be awarded to students who have shown an aptitude and proficiency for chemistry, communication and information technology, industrial, environmental, and mechanical engineering, physical and life sciences, mathematics, health and safety management, and product development. The Applied Science and Technology major is an interdisciplinary subject. Kyle Kohler earner his AST MBA last year and within 6 months had risen to the position of Director of Technology Services for a major construction company in the Northeast. Supervising a team of technicians and engineers, Kyle makes $72,000 annual salary, along with benefits and expenses. “None of this would be possible without my Almeda MBA,” says Kyle. “I knew my stuff before I got it, but no one would give me credit for my knowledge and skills until I got my Almeda degree.” Patterson Delmonte feels the same way. He was “head and shoulders better prepared and skilled than just about anybody I worked with, but until I got my Almeda MBA, I was stuck in a low paying job.” Now he’s the lead tech on a high powered crew for a massive public utility in the Northwest, making upwards of $80k per year with overtime and performance bonuses. “My MBA form Almeda changed my life!” declares Patterson.

The Human Services major may be awarded to students who have shown an aptitude and proficiency in human development, counseling, psychology, management, communications, abnormal psychology, social problems, marriage and family, and personality. San Diego is her home, born and raised, and now she is dedicating her working life to helping others find the stability and success that she has. She loves people and told me that thanks to her AU degree she is able to use her skills that otherwise would have “gone to waste,” as she puts it. Every day, she goes to work to “help people get a better life.” What could be more rewarding than that? Enrique Interado feels the same way. A social worker for a private, non-profit organization in Chicago, Enrique secured his $38,500 position thanks to his AU degree. A second generation Mexican-American, Enrique has long felt a deep need to give back to both America and those who have been less fortunate than him. As a social worker, Enrique spends his day listening to people’s problems, needs, and dreams, and then using all the resources at his disposal to help them pull themselves out of poverty and onto the road to the American Dream!
