This month's featured Doctorate program: Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Studies. A degree in Islamic studies is earned by demonstrating superior knowledge in the principles of Islam, as well as its historical prominence and impact on world culture over time. Understanding and interpreting the foundational texts, most notably the Qur'an, is a necessary element of this degree. A recent graduate of Almeda, Mohameed Riyalah, reports that after earning his degree he was able to secure a position as a diversity consultant for a major textile corporation located in New York City. Dr. Riyalah earns $133,000 a year (plus benefits and expenses) as a trainer and liaison between upper management and the subordinate employees, also acting as an "intervention officer" by enlightening both employees and the general public about the true nature of Islam and Muslims. Sayeed Daswani, who earned his degree in 2005, has since enjoyed several promotions within his company, one of the world's largest import/export concerns and a Fortune 500 corporation. Dr. Daswani now travels regularly throughout the Middle East as the CEO's personal cultural consultant and advisor. He would not say exactly, but he makes in excess of $300,000 per year dispensing valuable cultural advice and guiding his CEO through delicate and lucrative business negotiations within the Muslim world.

Almeda University offers Master Degrees in both business and theology. For more information about any of Almeda's Masters Degrees, click on this link. In order to attain a position as a business executive or a church Pastor-just to name two potential career paths-an MBA or MA in theology is often required. Some companies and congregations will not even consider applicants unless they have a Masters degree. Almeda's MBA and MA in Theology programs are conceived as a blend of academic study with the analysis of real world processes through the demonstration of practical experience.
This month's featured Master's Degree program: MBA in Business Management. This valuable MBA may be awarded to students who have shown an aptitude and proficiency for setting goals for a business and then coordinating the human, financial, physical and informational resources of that business to meet those goals. Additionally, Business Management majors will have demonstrable accounting, management, marketing, and computer skills, as well as general communications, mathematics and social science skills. An Almeda graduate in 2006, Howard Meckler landed his dream job as Assistant Vice-President of Sales for one of the world's premier manufacturers of high-end luxury yachts. Now living in a condo on the beach in San Diego, and working downtown-merely 10 minutes away-Howard pulls down $125,000 a year, plus benefits that include full days on the Pacific ocean, demonstrating his company's product line- 70-150 foot ocean going yachts-to some of Southern California's most beautiful (and wealthy) people. Just this past month, Sandra Scanlon earned her MBA and told Almeda that as soon as she presented her degree to her boss-the company president-he instantly gave her a $25,000 raise, a promotion to Shift Supervisor, and the executive benefits package. She now makes upwards of $73,000 a year and supervises anywhere from 25-45 employees on the assembly line at a large furniture manufacturing firm in North Carolina.

Many government and industry studies have ascertained that people with college degrees make on average over $1,000,000 more in their lifetime than people without college degrees. This month's featured Bachelors Degree: B.S. in Facilities Management. This is a good major for students with an aptitude and proficiency for effectively coordinating many specialist disciplines to create the optimum working environment for staff-specifically, the management of facilities such as cleaning, maintenance, security, and catering. In January of this year, LaShawn Taylor earned her B.S. from Almeda and by May she had secured a new job as an Account Executive for a large and still expanding Facilities Management firm in the Orlando area. Making $37,500 a year (plus benefits and an expense account), LaShawn spends her day meeting with high-powered executives of theme parks and other entertainment and hotel concerns in her dynamic city. She loves her job: "Orlando is the greatest city in the world and I have so much potential here!" Casey Grey languished for years in his job with a leading management company in Los Angeles. "I was their best employee, but without a degree, they couldn't promote me." Just two weeks after earning his B.S. degree from Almeda, Casey was promoted to West L.A. District Supervisor, given an $11,000 raise (to $41,000 a year), and provided a company car. That's the power of an Almeda degree!

Almeda University offers Associates of Arts (A.A.) degrees in many areas within Arts (including Education, Social Services, and Liberal Arts) and Associate of Sciences degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Science. For more information about any of Almeda's A.A. or A.S. degrees, click on this link. The benefits of an A.A. or A.S. degree are enormous. You can position yourself for a raise, a better job, and more respect within your field. Often, it's just a matter of that A.A. or A.S. degree keeping you from taking the next step in your career.
This month's featured Associate degree: A.S. in Information Technology. This major may be awarded to students who have shown an aptitude and proficiency for applying computer technology to solve business problems. Are you a geek or computer nerd? Or just a regular person who can do more with a computer than just everybody you know but you're not recognized or paid for your skills because you haven't been to college? Join dozens of Almeda A.S. in I.T. graduates who've not only increased their earnings, but have also raised themselves up the social status ladder thanks to their degree. Marsala Lopez is a woman in a largely male world-working as a computer tech for a chain of department stores in the Southwest. She started as a clerk and was shifted to a main office job when she made her skills known. But it wasn't until she presented management her A.S. degree that they really took notice of her, promoting her to Assistant Regional I.T. Director and raising her salary to $24,500 a year. Grady Jones was also stuck in a low paying job as a warehouse stock-person, until he earned his A.S. in I.T. degree from Almeda. He put in a few applications and was hired by the second company he interviewed with a well-established contracting firm outside of Boston. He's the go-to guy for anything and everything computer and technology related, working alongside various staff and support personnel on major building projects throughout the Northeast. The salary's not bad, either: $41,000 a year! Grady is exuberant about his Almeda A.S. degree: "It made my life, man," he says. "It really made my life!" It can make your life, too.
